Making new best friends since 2017.

Bring home a new family member.

A young girl was walking along a beach upon which thousands of starfish had been washed up during a terrible storm. When she came to each starfish, she would pick it up, and throw it back into the ocean. People watched her with amusement.

She had been doing this for some time when a man approached her and said, “Little girl, why are you doing this? Look at this beach! You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!”

The girl seemed crushed, suddenly deflated. But after a few moments, she bent down, picked up another starfish, and hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied,

“Well, I made a difference for that one!”

The old man looked at the girl inquisitively and thought about what she had done and said. Inspired, he joined the little girl in throwing starfish back into the sea. Soon others joined, and all the starfish were saved.

Miniature Horse and Donkey Rescue

501(c)3 non-profit

Our focus is miniature horses and donkeys as well as those with special medical needs such as pregnancy or health issues. We do also help and have larger horses available. We hope to help these special beings get back on their feet and find their happily ever after.

Our mission stretches beyond this though. We will always hope to help these animals recover and find happiness. We also seek to help spread awareness and education about the terrible situations, conditions, and underbelly of the horse industry that these animals have been subjected to prior to coming to us. We hope to help people have other options like owner surrender instead of auction pipelines and slaughter horses. We hope to help change this industry…one creature at a time.

“Difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations”

When the dust of the auction is starting to clear, the crowds are gone, the animals purchased, the doors closing, what’s next?

Now the real journey starts.  Now is time for recovery, decompression, and care.  Anyone who needs medical care is instantly seen by a vet for sickness or injury.  They either head straight to the vet or to the quarantine facility. They are monitored closely to make sure no injury or illness was missed on first exam or develops.

They get a chance to breathe again. They were suddenly thrown into the complete chaos of the auction, some trailered for miles and run through multiple rings, tagged, stuck with needles, and mixed with stallions and unknown horses.  They have lost friends, their homes, their people, and everything they knew. They are confused, lonely, depressed, and anxious.  They don’t know what they did wrong or what triggered this explosion of their normal.  Their eyes show their stress even through some brave faces.  It’s their time now to just breathe.

The work is not over.  The work is just starting.  They each need vet care besides the emergency issues.  They need dentals, farrier, shots, worming, and vaccines.  They need better nutrition and supplementation to help them get back on their feet.  They will get their own blankets and halters to have something that is theirs.  They need consistency, kindness, and love to know they are finally safe.

Their journey is just starting.  We don’t know what this journey will bring but we hope each will have a happily ever after. We are so thankful to get to be a part of it and we are so grateful to everyone who made this possible for them.

“The best is yet to come.”
